You might open with devilled whitebait & smoked paprika mayonnaise, before getting to grips with a mighty helping of rosemary-marinated lamb rump with roast garlic mash, redcurrant jus & parsnip crisps; to finish, perhaps apple & blackberry crumble or a perfectly cooked lemon tart. Weekend brunch boasts ‘the best eggs Benedict ever’, according to one aficionado, although the ‘relaxed & fun’ vibe is thoroughly enjoyable any day of the week.

Waterloo Station is the busiest station in the whole of the United Kingdom and therefore it is fair to expect some pretty good facilities. Unfortunately there isn’t a first class waiting area, but there is a standard waiting area open between 4:30am and 1.05am Monday to Friday, 4.30am to 1.50am Saturday and 5.30am to 1.05am Sunday. There are two cash machines on the station, one open the same time as the waiting rooms, with the other open 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 6pm Sunday. As much as we’d all love to not have to get up early in the morning to go to work, sometimes it is an inevitability. If you have to be in the office extra early one day then it means dragging yourself out of bed at an obscene hour, throwing some clothes on and rushing out of the house to get to the station. So we are stuck at the train station much earlier than anticipating with our stomachs rumbling.

There is a wide variety of foods to choose from - you can have a quick sausage sandwich or tuck into a full English breakfast if the time allows. There are even healthy options on offer now (the myth of the greasy cafe long since dispelled) with toast or even fruit now being an option. All of this can be washed down with a pot of tea or a refreshing cup of coffee or even an array of fruit juices. It’s almost worth getting up that little bit earlier every day to ensure that you have the best possible meal to start your day!

There is nothing worse than having an empty stomach; whether you are travelling a long way or just nipping across the city, you don’t want to be doing it whilst hungry. When you are hungry, everything seems to take longer and seems more of an ordeal and the last thing you want to have on your mind is your stomach when you’re going on a holiday or rushing to that meeting.
