Despite the fact that there have been plenty of other significant events taking place throughout the world during the last couple of weeks, it seems like the news media wants to focus all of their attention on the H1N1 flu virus. When the swine flu virus started appearing in Mexico, it killed a significant amount of people (many of who were previously healthy young adults). Although it is true that the H1N1 virus has continued its spread across the world, it is not causing the same level of fatalities that it initially did in Mexico. I wanted to highlight this fact about the H1N1 virus, because for reasons unknown to me, people continue to be extremely worried about this virus continuing to spread around the world. As a result of their continued but misguided worries, people are changing their plans and certain countries are imposing all kinds of regulations.
Regardless of the fact that the swine flu worries continue, I am not going to let them interfere with my summer travel plans. I already planned on taking a trip to London in the middle of the summer, and I’m not going to let this swine flu issue deter me from visiting London (which is a place I have wanted to go for awhile now). In addition to booking my flight and hotel room, I have already reserved a Waterloo station car rental, so there’s no way I am going through the process of canceling all of those reservations. The one reason that I don’t think I will actually have to worry about canceling my trip is because by the time it actually arrives, I bet the news media will have something new to make people worry about more than swine flu!
